The Test Of Faith During Difficult Seasons
Introduction
In our last blog, we began exploring how God tests us—not to harm us, but to grow us, refine us, and draw us closer to Him. One of the most profound tests we encounter is the test of sacrifice.
In this blog, we turn our focus to another powerful and often painful experience: the test of faith during difficult seasons.
There are moments in life when faith is no longer just something we talk about—it becomes something we must live. These are the seasons where trusting God is not easy, comfortable, or predictable. Yet, it is in these very moments that our faith is stretched, strengthened, and activated.
Faith in the Midst of Hardship
The test of faith can look like being placed in a position similar to Job—trusting God when everything connected to you seems to be falling apart.
It’s choosing to believe when:
The bills don’t seem like they will get paid
Your body is battling sickness and the doctor’s report is discouraging
Relationships you hoped would flourish feel strained or broken
Life feels overwhelming, and the weight seems too heavy to carry
In these moments, faith is not passive—it is a decision. A decision to trust God even when life doesn’t make sense.
Scriptures on Faith
1. Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
This scripture teaches us that faith is not based on what we can physically see or touch. It is a spiritual confidence in what God has promised, even when there is no visible proof yet. Faith becomes our foundation in uncertain times—it holds us steady when everything else feels unstable.
When life looks empty or uncertain, faith says, “God is still working.” It allows us to hope boldly and believe deeply, even in the absence of immediate results.
2. Hebrews 11:32–34 (KJV)
"And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:
Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong..."
This passage highlights the power of faith in action. These individuals were not without flaws, yet through faith they experienced victory, protection, and strength.
Notice that it says “out of weakness were made strong.” This reminds us that faith does not require us to be perfect or powerful—it requires us to trust God. Even in our lowest moments, faith invites God’s strength into our weakness.
Your current struggle does not disqualify you—it positions you for God to move.
3. 2 Corinthians 5:7 (KJV)
"For we walk by faith, not by sight."
Walking by faith means living beyond what our natural eyes can see. It challenges us to trust God over our circumstances.
When situations look discouraging, walking by sight may lead to fear, doubt, or giving up. But walking by faith anchors us in God’s truth instead of our temporary reality.
Faith says, “Even if I don’t see it yet, I believe God is leading me.”
4. James 1:3 (KJV)
"Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience."
This scripture reveals that our trials are not pointless—they are productive. The testing of our faith develops patience, endurance, and spiritual maturity.
What feels like delay is often God building strength within us. Patience is not just waiting—it is trusting God while we wait.
Every difficult season is shaping you into someone stronger, wiser, and more grounded in faith.
Faith: The Vehicle to Victory
Faith is not a place where we remain stuck in sadness—it is the vehicle that carries us into victory.
Difficult seasons are not meant to break us; they are meant to activate our faith. When everything around us feels uncertain, that is the moment to lean even deeper into God.
We must remember:
God’s will will be done in our lives.
And even when we don’t understand the process, we can trust the One who is in control of it.
Reflection
Take a moment to reflect:
What area of your life is God calling you to trust Him more?
Are you relying on what you see, or what God has promised?
How can you actively walk by faith in your current season?
Sometimes, the greatest act of faith is simply choosing to keep going, keep believing, and keep trusting—even when you don’t have all the answers.
Closing Thoughts
The test of faith is not easy—but it is necessary. It stretches us beyond our comfort and pulls us into deeper relationship with God.
When life feels uncertain, remember that your faith is being refined, not destroyed.
There is power in walking by faith.
There is strength in trusting God.
And there is victory on the other side of your obedience.
